The mission of The Joy of Music is to provide exceptional music therapy and music instruction while exceeding the expectations of those we serve.

Elisabeth J. Tinnes, MT-BC founded The Joy of Music, LLC in 2005 in Washington, Iowa. She has embraced music all her life playing the trumpet, piano, guitar, violin and dancing as a child. It was the love of music and the way it changed how people felt that led her to music therapy.
Elisabeth received a Bachelor of Music in music therapy and trumpet performance from the University of Iowa in 2005 and graduated with distinction. She followed her schooling with an internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she worked on both behavioral health and medical units.
Elisabeth is passionate about people and the relationships made with her clients. She strives to provide exceptional services through Music Therapy services, Music With Me and music lessons. The Joy of Music currently provides services to people of all ages and abilities in Southeast Iowa.

Denise Coovert, MT-BC received her Bachelor of Art in music therapy from Western Illinois University. After graduating with honors, she received her internship training from Giant Steps of Illinois, a school for children with autism in the Chicago area. Denise has extensive training in voice and is also experienced in piano, percussion, guitar and violin.
After earning her board-certification in music therapy, Denise began her career at the Joy of Music, LLC in 2008. Here she works with a diverse population including hospice patients, children with autism and developmental delays as well as younger and older adults with a variety of needs. In her free time Denise enjoys scrapbooking, watching movies and shopping. Denise's passion for music therapy resides with school-aged chldren and she hopes to empower local schools to incorporate music therapy into their curriculum.

Leanne Meisinger, MT-BC is from the Chicago area and moved to Iowa to begin her music therapy career with The Joy of Music, LLC in 2011. She earned a Bachelor of Music in music therapy from Illinois State University and graduated with honors. She was a dedicated member of the flute studio during her time at ISU, and also plays piano and guitar. She completed her music therapy internship with older adults at Bethany Village in Dayton, OH, in early 2011.
Leanne has much experience working with older adults, and during her schooling she also loved working with children. She values making a genuine connection with patients through music therapy.
